Road Trip

Last weekend we decided to make the drive out to Ohio for my Grandmother's funeral. We left VB at 10:30 and finally arrived sometime after 11:00. Let's just say we will not ever use mapquest again! The funeral was very nice and again reiterated my Mamaw's love for the Lord even in the most dire of circumstances. I even had the privilege of being a pallbearer. After the funeral, several of us went to lunch on the river in Kentucky. It was great to spend time with family that I do not see very often. After the funeral, we hit the road and pulled into Lexington Virginia around 9:30. We celebrated our 5th anniversary at Ruby Tuesdays. It wasn't the Sanderling as planned, but we had uninterrupted time together which was wonderful. A huge thank you to Grammy and Nanny for taking such good care of Henry and Claire. Here are a few pics from the weekend:

Louise Kinder North

1922-2008
On Monday night my dear Mamaw was called home to be with the Lord. She had been in poor health and she was ready. She was an amazingly strong woman and absolutely loved the Lord! She will be missed and thankfully we were able to take Henry and Eleanor Claire out for a visit this time last year. Here are some of my favorite pictures:

New 'Do

Before. . .
After
What a big boy!

Henry had his first haircut two weeks ago. He was looking a bit rough and sadly, it was time for the baby curls to go. He did so well and looks like such a big boy now!

First Day

Claire had her first day of preschool last week. After much hestitation, we headed to school. She walked into class without so much as a good-bye and when I picked her up, her words were "I like school!" The first two days have been fantastic. I think her biggest adjustment was having to wear socks after several months of flipflops.

We have had such a great time this summer visiting with special friends. We were able to visit with Megan and her family. Then Cheryl and her family (we got to meet baby G for the first time). Finally, I was able to catch up with old friends at my 20th high school reunion. This summer has been a blast and we are blessed with awesome friends!

New Ride

"I can do it myself."

Claire is very excited about her new Disney Princess bike! She wanted to ride on the bike path, so we took her down to the boardwalk the other night. I must admit it brought tears to my eyes to see our "little lady" looking like such a big girl. She did a great job and only caused a few accidents as she took in the sights instead of focusing on the bike traffic.
